Russia is claiming a new world airship speed record of 50.03 km per hour for a single seat gas airship Au-11 of the BA-02 subclass (according to the FAI classification, the envelope volume from 400 to 900 cu. m).
Leonid Putintsev lifted from Ramenskoye airfield at 13.03 on On February 10, and landed at 13.20; the airship passed over a marked runway 4 times.
The Au-11 airship is a prototype training craft for airship pilots and a testing ground for airships designed by the Augur Aeronautical Centre on behalf of the Moscow Government.
From this May airships will monitor Moscow road traffic.
