Piper announces its Jet

It’s been rumoured for a while now, but Piper has used NBAA in Orlando (which started today) to announce its jet, which was first hinted at back in 2002.

The PiperJet will have six or seven seats (you can choose to have a toilet instead of the seventh seat) and a single engine. Priced at just under $2.2 million in 2006 dollars (ie, the price will change as the dollar rate changes) Piper is aiming for a service ceiling of 35,000 ft a cruise speed of 360knts and a range of 1,300 nm. Piper tells us that its jet will be certified for single pilot operations, and will be RVSM approved (Reduced Vertical Separation Minima), and will of course be certified for flight into known icing – or FIKI as the acronym addicts like to say.

Florida based Piper, who recently signed a partnership deal with Honda are aiming to start deliveries in 2010.
