Flaris installs new jet engine

Poland’s Flaris LAR 1 single-engine personal jet has just fired up its new engine, the Williams FJ-33-5A – the same engine being used in the Cirrus Vision jet and certified by the FAA in June this year.

“The new power unit has been started in assistance with specialists from Williams Int. The engine works incredibly well,” said Flaris. The company has a new factory in Podgùrzyn in a region known as Lower Silesia. Flaris expects to start flight tests of the LAR 1 soon.

Williams International who developed the jet engine said,  The advanced, very light FJ33 fanjet expands the options available to airframe manufacturers by providing an engine sized to power a whole new class of affordable light jets in the 5000- to 9000-pound GTOW class.

“These light jet aircraft will cruise over the weather at jet speeds, take off and land at small airports, and have lower operating cost than many twin-piston aircraft.”

The FJ33-5A produces 1,000 to 1,900 lb of thrust, is 38.5in (98cm) long and weighs 310lb (141kg).
