First fleet order for Elixir's new two-seater

French start-up manufacturer Elixir Aircraft – founded in 2015 – is celebrating the first fleet order for its two-seat training aircraft, the Elixir.

Airways Aviation Academy, with bases for training professional pilots across the world, has signed an agreement to pre-order 10 Elixir Aircraft.

Marwan Atalla of Airways Aviation, said, “The Elixir is a safe aircraft, and has been designed taking into consideration safety, ease of maintenance, low operating costs, and suitability for flight training, which matches our goal to provide optimal training for our students.”

So far, 51 Elixir have been pre-ordered, bringing the estimated delivery of the first Airways Aviation Academy’s aircraft to 2022.

Elixir Aircraft says the aircraft’s selling point is its simplicity of construction with just 600 parts compared to 15,000 in a typical two-seater.

The Elixir – which will be at this weekend’s LAA Rally – is also designed for lower operating costs, according to the company, and is able to perform training from basic VFR up to advanced IFR. It can carry up to 280kg and cruise at 130kt for seven hours with a fuel burn of 16 litres per hour.
