Dornier faces closure

Insolvency practitioners Pluta have been appointed by the district court at Oberfaffenhofen to look after the affairs of German aircraft maker AvCraft Aerospace GmbH the company which manufactured turboprop and jet versions of the Dornier 328 commuter aircraft.
Cash flow seems to be the major problem. Three aircraft ordered by Chinese airline Hainan have been completed but not delivered.
Most of the 345 staff have been laid off and Martin Prager of Pluta says he is looking for new investors.

The turboprop variant is the backbone of Scot Airways in the UK and the jet version is used by Southampton-based Club 328.

Delivery problems with Hainan also played a part in the the collapse of AvCraft Aerospace GmbH predecessor Fairchild Dornier which filed for insolvency in 2002.
