Aviation paintings exhibition goes online

Aviation art exhibition 2021

The annual exhibition of the Guild of Aviation Artists is being held online for the first time this year.

This follows last year’s event being cancelled and continued uncertainty of Covid restrictions, and follows 49 years of annual exhibitions in London galleries.

Nearly 300 original works of art from 94 different artists will be display in in a virtual gallery which opens at 10am on 19 July.

The Guild’s annual exhibition attracts art buyers and enthusiasts from across the world.

Martin Perman of the Guild said, “This is the premier event (the largest of its kind in the world) for wholly original works of aviation art, each the result of meticulous observation or careful research of aircraft, events, personalities and historical achievements blended with artistic skills in land, sea and skyscapes.

“All eras of aviation will be represented, from the earliest hot air balloons through to current airliners, combat aircraft from the world’s air forces, and the odd spacecraft!

“Works from well-known professionals such as Michael Turner, Alex Hamilton, Roy Huxley, and Mark Postlethwaite will be joined by those from the many gifted semi-professionals and amateur artists who make up Guild membership.”

There’s also a wide range of techniques and styles in watercolour, oil, acrylic, pen and ink, pencil, gouache and pastel.
