Aerobatic GB1 launched by British company

A new British aerobatic aircraft has had its maiden flight. The GameBird 1, from Wickenby based Game Composites, is flying in the hands of Philipp Steinbach who also designed the aircraft.

Steinbach also designed the XtremeAir aerobatic aircraft in Germany but started with Game Composites in January 2013. The company is believed to be funded by Walmart heir Steuart Walton who is also CEO. Walton flies aerobatics and has been active on the British aerobatic competition scene.

The GameBird 1 (GB1) has two seats, is powered by a Lycoming AEIO 580 B1A, and weighs just 575kg including 9-litres of oil. Few details have been released yet but the aircraft is claimed to have a 200kt+ cruise speed, a range of 1000nm+ and be ‘fully aerobatic’.
