UK GA to get UNICOM

It looks like the UK is finally going to get its own version of the American UNICOM.

After much debate on our very own Flyer Forum the CAA has published proposals for what it calls ‘Safetycom’.

The new edition of CAP413 has a new section (6 in chapter 4) which deals with ‘Radiotelephony Reports at Unattended Aerodromes’.

CAP413 says it is “expected to be introduced in the United Kingdom in 2004/2005”.

There is no information yet on what the frequency will be (apparently one freq for whole of UK) but we hope it will be 123.45
