Thielert points to new aircraft installations

In announcing that it had a strong end to 2006, diesel engine manufacturer Thielert has revealed that it is 2007 will bring it “a second major and several minor OEMs” (Original Equipment Manufacturers or aircraft manufacturers). The ‘first’ major OEM which Thielert provides engines for is, of course, Diamond.

Other news from Thielert is that 2006 turned out to be a strong year, with record sales and profits, and expansion of plants in Lichtenstein/Saxony and Altenburg/Thuringia, as well as the development of the Centurion 2.0 and Centurion 4.0 engines.

The 135 hp 2.0 is a successor to the Centurion 1.7 (also a 135 hp engine), and is destined for the US market, where the diesel uptake has been slow.

Elsewhere, the company is looking to expand into military circles, with contracts from General Atomics and the US Army.
