Tecnam buys CAG

Tecnam, the Italian manufacturer, has bought 88% of Spanish company Composite Aeronautic Group (CAG), manufacturer of the Toxo range of light aircraft.

The purchase will, says the company, will give it extra capacity to produce more aircraft and will bring ‘enhanced access to additional technologies’.

Tecnam says that the new space will be used to double its current production line of two-seat aircraft from 300 per year to a predicted 600 a year by the end of 2009. This will also allow greater room for manufacturing the four-seat twin-engine P2006T, an aircraft which is eagerly anticipated, and which is now undergoing final certification.

Tecnam also says that it is completing a design for a new aircraft. The new aircraft will, its says, ‘build on the existing Tecnam strengths of exceptional flight characteristics, high useful load, design flair and provide additional cabin space.’ It is expected to make its first appearance early next year at the Sun n Fun and Friedrichshafen shows.
