Save Coventry Airport Open Day
Coventry Airport Limited, Rowley Road, Coventry, UK
An open day is being held at Coventry (Baginton) airfield on Saturday 8 January in a public show of support for the ongoing operation of the airfield, its enterprise and its community.
Alongside an informal ‘fly-in’, visitors are invited to attend by road or other means to help show that the airfield is not, as the Financial Times wrongly quoted earlier last year, “disused”.
The world’s last airworthy ex-RAF Vampire jet will be on display, and tours of the Nimrod and Shackleton aircraft on static display will also be available. Hot food and drinks can be purchased from the ‘Light Apron’ cafe and Coventry Aero Club, the site’s oldest tenants, will be welcoming guests with a free buffet.
Alongside a multitude of aircraft flying in (subject to weather conditions), Flight Simulator Midlands are challenging everyone to take the ‘747 landing challenge’ for just £10.
ALMAT flying club will also open for tea and coffee, offering all visitors on the day free entry into a raffle to win a 30 minute trial lesson. They will also have simulator flights available.
