Robin launches DR401 Lite for flight schools

Robin Aircraft has revealed two new models based on its DR401 at AERO this week. They are the DR401 Lite, aimed at flight schools with a starting price of €142,596 + VAT, and the higher performance DR401 200 I.

The DR401 Lite is powered by a 118hp Lycoming O-235 engine operating a Duc carbon fibre, ground adjustable, propellor. Robin also revlealed that is planning a version fitted with the new Rotax 915 iS engine.

The DR401 Lite does away with the rear seats leaving a huge space behind. A third seat can be specified. The instrument panel is simple with analogue instruments and space for an iPad. It retains the bigger cockpit and wider canopy introduced with the DR401.

At the other extreme, the DR401 200 I is powered by a Lycoming IO-360 producing 200hp engine. Robin claims a fast cruise of 145kt and a take-off run of 320m to clear 15m. Starting price is €244,802 + VAT.
