Red Bull result

The Red Bull series will go into the London leg in two weeks’ time with a Briton in first place, after Paul Bonhomme won the Air Race in Rotterdam yesterday. It was Bonhomme’s third victory in four races, and means that he has a six point margin at the top of the championship table. His nearest rival is now Austrian Hannes Arch, who lost to Bonhomme in yesterday’s final.

Third in the race – and earning his first podium finish of the season – was another Briton, Steve Jones.

The final was a dramatic affair, with Arch hitting a pylon in an attempt to set a time which Bonhomme could not beat. With some of the pylon material caught on his right wing, he had to abort the run, leaving the way open for Bonhomme to win the head-to-head with a solid 1:17.25.

The previous day had proved testing in qualifying, as winds gusting up to 32kt caused the second practice/qualifying session to be cancelled.
