Red Bull Air Race to air on C5

Around 60,000 people turned up to see the fifth heat of the Red Bull Air Race World Series race at Longleat House, Wiltshire on August 7th.
American Mike ‘Mungo’ Mangold, Top Gun graduate and a dominant pilot in the series took home the top spot with a total time of 2:54:70, just 3 seconds ahead of his compatriot Kirby Chambliss. British pilot Paul Bonhomme took 5th place, with fellow countryman Steve Jones flying a disappointing 6th after incurring a 10-second penalty for striking a gate. The series ends in San Francisco on October 8th. Organisers estimate hundreds of thousands of people missed out on the event and the lucky few who received tickets were selected by a random ballot.
Fortunately, highlights from the entire Red Bull Air Race World Series will be broadcast on Channel Five. The first episode, on Saturday 10th of September at 1.30 pm comes from the inaugural event in Abu Dhabi.
