New stats show infringements are up

The OnTrack website has some up-to-date statistics on reported airspace infringements, and they show that the trend is on the up.

The figures are for NATS controllers, but nevertheless the trends remain.

By the end of September 2006, incidents of infringement were on a par with the whole of 2005, which itself was seriously up on 2004. Various explanations have been put forward for the increases – perhaps there is more emphasis put on watching and reporting infringements in this security and safety conscious era – but it’s still a worrying trend.

The second graph shows that Stansted maintains its position as the most infringed airspace in the UK, with other south-east areas also suffering.
