Inverness Airport consults over airspace change

Inverness Airport, on the north-east coast of Scotland, is looking to introduce new arrival and departure procedures with corresponding changes to Controlled Airspace around the airport. A second consultation has just been started on the proposed changes.

The airport is operated by Highland and Island Airports Ltd (HIAL). HIAL says it is looking to maintain safety, improve efficiency and minimise the environmental effects of its operations.

HIAL completed a first stage of consultation on an initial design of the CAS for Inverness Airport in April 2015. Valuable and well-informed feedback was received from all those consulted and analysis of the responses highlighted some common themes.

These concerns have led to a significant change in the design, in geographic extent, volume and type, of the proposed CAS surrounding Inverness Airport to increase the flexibility for General Aviation (GA) and Ministry of Defence (MOD) Visual Flight Rules (VFR) operations within and around this CAS.

“Your contribution to this Consultation is important,” said HIAL. “We would like to remind you to view the latest consultation document and provide your comments by email.” Send comments to: [email protected] Deadline for this consultation is 6 November 2016.
