Insurance law for all GA aircraft in Europe

New European regulations require operators of all aircraft operating in the EU to have minimum levels of insurance cover in respect of passenger and third party liability from the 30th April 2005.

For private aircraft the CAA will only require evidence of insurance when an aircraft is first registered and then at every subsequent re-registration.

The CAA will also be carrying out spot checks and if an aircraft is not properly insured, then it can be grounded and the operator prosecuted under the Air Navigation Order.”
