Improved UK Airprox site

Additional information on the reporting and investigation of Airprox incidents and the work of the UK Airprox Board is now published on the updated and extended version of the UKAB website. The Director of UKAB, Peter Hunt, said: ‘Our new site will help us communicate the findings set out in our reports to the widest possible audience, in the UK and abroad. It provides comprehensive information for pilots and air traffic controllers on reporting an Airprox and how they are investigated.’
The site covers in greater detail the work of UKAB, including its latest six-monthly reports. ‘We would like the site to be a valuable source of reference. Whilst we already have some developments in the pipeline, we would of course appreciate any suggestions on how the site could be developed or enhanced.’
The supplementary material on the new site also provides up-to-date information on the progress of the Board’s safety recommendations as well as statistics, links to publications and background information to answer questions like: ‘what happens after a pilot or controller files an Airprox?’
Previously, the majority of these have only been available in book and CD format, not online. Other new features include monthly statistics on the trend in UK Airprox reports.
The UKAB’s primary objective is to enhance flight safety in the UK. Its
six-monthly reports are published to raise awareness and understanding of the incidents assessed by the Board with the emphasis placed on identifying lessons for the attention of the aviation community.
Pilots wishing to file an Airprox can request a report form to be e-mailed to them by contacting [email protected]
