Avweb is reporting that the HondaJet is to go on sale at next month’s NBAA show in Florida.
Honda announced at Oshkosh, earlier in the year, that the jet would be sold in partnership with Piper. It was then quoting the autumn as a likely time for taking the first pre-sales cheques, and now it seems that the partnership will start taking orders for the seven-seat, $3m jet at the show. Certification for the type is expected in 3-4 years’ time.
The HondaJet is part of the burgeoning VLJ (Very Light Jet) sector. The sector is typified as having 4-7 seats, being easy to fly, fuel efficient and fast. VLJs are expected to fulfil a requirement for quick and convenient personal transport in the post 9/11 world.
