FLYER's Irv Lee wins award

FLYER’s own Irv Lee has won the AOPA Special Award, which is “Awarded to a pilot, controller or engineer, or other person who has made a special contribution to safety, or other areas of aviation.

Irv’s citation says that he is “well known for his many and varied contributions to helping pilots become better and safer pilots.” Irv also holds one-day PPL Masterclass Seminars throughout the country, which AOPA has incorporated into its Wings Award as a qualifying achievement, and has created a DVD – Irv Lee’s Rust Remover for Pilots – aimed at pilots who haven’t flown for some time, but also ideal for anybody who just want to brush up on their technique. And, of course, Irv has long been a contributor to FLYER magazine, writing about airmanship and navigation as well as his long-running Weather Watch series (now transformed into the monthly ‘From the Right Hand Seat’ column).

Well done, Irv!
