Diamond Aircraft Industries GmbH has delivered the first two DA42 Twin Stars to French customers.
Simultaneously a DA42 powered by diesel engines was despatched to a customer in Florida.
Diamond Aircraft forcast delivery of four to five aircraft per week from early April.
The actual production rate of the DA42 Twin Star is 10 aircraft per month and will be raised, due to high demand, to 17 per month in May.
The diesel-powered aircraft will cruise at about 180 knots, and is equipped with the Garmin G1000 glass cockpit. The composite aircraft is positioned to compete with new and used light twins, and high performance singles.
Advance orders amount to 215 in Europe and 500 worldwide.
