Felthorpe fire

GA pilots are rallying around Felthorpe Flying Club which lost nine aircraft, a clubhouse and a hangar after a number of fires were started deliberately earlier this week.

The 40-year-old group has been inundated with offers of help in rebuilding, aircraft on loan, and invitations to fly at other clubs while the members sort out the aftermath of the incident. Among the machines destroyed was the club’s Chipmunk, a Cub, a Fairchild Argus and an ARV.

Many of the 30-strong members will be at the Norfolk airfield during the weekend to discuss the future, clear up and salvage what they can.

An old bus will become a temporary clubhouse and the club will welcome those who want to drop in and wish them well (there might even be a coffee if they can get a kettle going!).

If you can offer any assistance, we’re sure they’ll appreciate it.
