Eddsfield joins safety scheme

Eddsfield, a small unlicensed grass strip in East Yorkshire is the 191st airfield, to join Charles Strasser’s scheme on behalf of AOPA, to agree to waive all fees for aircraft making an emergency or precautionary diversion landing.

AOPA has presented a “Flight Safety Award” Certificate to each of the 191 operators who have fully accepted CAA CAP 667 9.2(c) recommendation not to levy any fees from a General Aviation pilot who makes a genuine emergency or diversionary landing at their Aerodrome.

All 36 military/MOD airfields have joined the scheme

However 17 have so far decided that they will not implement the CAP 667 9.2(c) recommendations. They are Belfast-Intl., Biggin-Hill, Birmingham, Blackpool, Cardiff, Carlisle, Dundee, Exeter, Filton, Gloucestershire, Humberside, Isle-of-Man, Leeds/Bradford, London-Luton, Manchester, Norwich, and Teesside.

London Heathrow, City and Gatwick have not been approached.
