Diamond DA42 Twin Star over London

The 95.8 Capital FM Flying Eye travel news for London is now broadcast from a state-of-the-art Diamond DA42 Twin Star. Two of the new aircraft are now in service at Stapleford and are the first Twin Stars in Britain to be licensed for air charter flights.

Operated by Selectair Charter the aircraft is much quieter, more fuel efficient with considerably lower emission. Launched two years ago it incorporates the latest avionics, carbon fibre technology, airframe and powerplant design all together in one package.

Colin Dobney, Chief Pilot and Head of Training at Stapleford Flight Centre, Selectair’s sister company, said ‘Our fantastic new aeroplanes will enable Selectair Charter to provide a much better service for Capital FM’s Flying Eye by being much quieter and more environmentally friendly. It is very flexible, quiet and easy to operate at the low altitude required by traffic watching over urban areas. The Diamonds will add a new dimension to Select Air’s charter “air taxi” service with greater speed and range.’

Capital FM’s Flying Eye is the only traffic aircraft covering London and is piloted by 27 year old Jacqui Dobney from Glasgow who has been flying for six years.
