Coventry Open Day on despite weather

The planned Open Day at Coventry Airport this Saturday, 8 January, will go ahead despite the poor weather forecast.

Organiser Charlotte Bailey confirmed the decision to FLYER today (Thursday).

Charlotte said, “Unfortunately the airfield is closed on Sundays and Mondays and in view of the planning committee meeting taking place on Tuesday 11th, Saturday really is the only window we have.

“I can confirm that the event will still go ahead even if it’s not flyable, although we would urge all potential aeroplanes to PPR regardless in order to get an idea of the numbers and interest involved.

“Parking will be available at both ends of the site (next to the aero club and down at the Almat side), who will both be open to welcome visitors.

“Flight Simulator Midlands will be offering flights in their 747 simulator for just £10, with all proceeds going to Morton Hospice. Simulator experiences will also be available in Almat flying club, while Coventry Aero Club will be providing a free buffet.

“MEFRS and Aero Fire and Rescue Ltd will be present in the Aero Club car park with their fire vehicle on display. The Nimrod, Shackleton and Vampire preservation groups will also be available to meet on the day, and the Light Apron Cafe will be open for hot food.

“Please do come along and support the various enterprises opening their doors in a public show of support for the airfield’s community.”

In event of the weather being OK and should you decide to fly in, PPR here.

Comments

  1. Please do all try and attend this important and very, very significant event. Dig deep and help us save Coventry Airport.

  2. I would like to wish all involved with the campaign to save Coventry Airport good luck and hope that the weather allows for this event to be a success. We in GA all need to stick together against the many pressures we are facing from all sides right now
