Avgas back on stream at Alderney

VAT and duty-free AvGas will be back on stream in Alderney from 1st September 2005. Lack of avgas resulted in the cancellation of Alderney’s annual Fly-In last month.

The airports new supplier is AEL (Alderney Electricity Limited ). The company has been supplying the island with heating oil and electricity since its formation back in 1953, has now committed a substantial investment to provide aviation fuel to the airport.
It is particularly good news for the Royal Aero Club, organisers of the 9th Annual Air Races (23-25 September).

The date for the 21st anniversary celebrations of the annual Alderney Fly-In , now the UK’s sixth largest general light aviation fly-in, has been set for the weekend if 9-11 June 2006.

With three operational runways, Alderney Airport is unique amongst Channel Islands airports in that it offers free parking for 72 hours, low landing fees plus VAT and duty free avgas.
