The UK Airprox Board has issued its latest report into incidents reported by pilots and air traffic controllers in the first half of last year.
The report shows that there were 17 fewer than the average of comparable figures in the previous five years. Of those that fell into the major risk category (where ‘an actual risk of collision existed’), none involved commercial air transport aircraft. Of 21 risk category B events (where ‘the safety of the aircraft was compromised’), five involved at least one commercial aircraft.
Among the category A risk events were those between a Puma and Grob Tutor; A Hawk (trainer jet) and Twin Squirrel helicopter; A PA-28 and C152 and one between two PA-28s.
