A flurry of announcements from Cirrus Design

Cirrus Design, well known for their sleek and high performing composite SR20 and SR22 aeroplanes must have been really busy recently if the announcements are anything to go by. For starters they have launched the Cirrus SRV, in effect a basic version of the SR20 that will only be certified for VFR flight. The SRV will feature an all glass cockpit using the Avidyne Entegra PFD. The SRV has a low basic price tag of $189,900.

Following on from the SRV announcement Cirrus have become the first GA manufacturer to make PFDs standard equipment across the whole range, and if that wasn’t enough, other announcements included options for air conditioning, supplemental oxygen and three year extended warranties. Oh, did we mention that they’ve also announced a run of 100 ‘Centenial’ edition SR22s? Traditional manufacturers are going to have to work hard to keep up with the boys and girls of Duluth.
