Coventry Airport faces winding-up petition

First Posted: Tue 01 Dec 2009

A petition to wind up West Midlands Airport Limited, the company that runs Coventry Airport, had been put before the High Court by the Inland Revenue. The airport has until 9 December to respond to the petition.
While a spokesperson for the airport said that operations are continuing as normal, Gynn Matthews, the owner of Almat Flying Club, which is based at Coventry, was more concerned. "We knew that they had problems and we'd heard rumours, but this has still come out of the blue," he explained. "We've got staff here and everyone is concerned. It needs somebody to take the airport over for us to survive and while we've heard a lot of rumours including that there were three interested parties at one stage now we just need to know what's going on.
