Texas Sport Aircraft Company has announced the introduction of the Texas Sport 'amateur-built' aircraft.
The aircraft, whose design is 'in the spirit of the American Legend Cub and historic Piper J-3 Cub', combines the most popular features of the J-3, PA-11 and PA-18 designs. It has a J-3 wing design, PA-11 struts, and outboard wing attachments like the PA-18 Super Cub.
Like the Legend Cub, the airframe features a 3-inch wider cockpit providing a noticeably larger cabin. Additionally, fuel is stored in the wings allowing for solo flight from the forward seat. The Texas Sport comes with a choice of PA-11 style closed cowl or J-3 style "eyebrows."
At a gross weight of 1320 lb it fits in the new US Sport Pilot Regulations.
The aircraft will be on show at Sun 'n Fun which starts next week in Florida.
