September 2014

05-07 Foxlands Farm Victory Show, Cosby, Leicestershire. The Victory Show, now in its ninth year is a formidable tribute to World War II. This year Show will run for three days from Friday 5th– Sunday 7th September 2014. Held over a 100 acre site, the show provides historical societies and re-enactments through various forces from several era's and theatres during the period of 1939-45. From airmen to infantry, the Victory Show opens a window in time to the 1940s. website

06-07 Scottish Air Show, Prestwick. Saturday 6th Sep, the Scottish Airshow Low Green, Ayr event will be open to the public from 10am – 7pm & the air display programme will start at 2pm until 5pm. Sunday 7th Sep, the Scottish Airshow static aircraft event will be hosted by Glasgow Prestwick Airport and will open to the public from 10am – 5pm. website

06-07 Spamfield Microlight Fly-in, Sandown. This year the Hanger party, BBQ and band will be provided by the new on site team at Sandown. The local Hampshire Microlight Club and the Sandown team are supporting the BMAA in staging this year’s event, please register with them using the link on the website below. 07 Arnhem Fly-in, Bodmin Airfield. We have invited military vehicles and re enactors to set up camp at Bodmin in honour of the valiant souls that were fighting the Arnhem front 70 years ago. 07 Seething Airfield Charity Airday, Seething Airfield. This is an annual charity fund raising air show featuring breath taking international air display acts, local charity and craft stands, static aircraft displays, classic & military vehicles, refreshments, and of course the Seething Tower Museum. All proceeds go to the East Anglian Air Ambulance and other local charities. There is space for a limited number of visiting aircraft. Pre-booking is essential. website

07 Pooley's Day, Compton Abbas. *Date change from 6th July Compton and Pooley's go back a good 25 years, and the airfield is one of the original 'partners' with the popular aviation equipment supplier. Pilots who purchase goodies with Pooleys throughout the year will be invited to the day, which treats them to free landings and a goodie bag. Pilots note that you will have to PPR with Pooleys if you would like to come. It's a great day for members of the public to come up and spectate with over 120 aircraft booked to fly in. website

08 HAA 2014 Symposium, RAF Museum, Hendon. The Historic Aircraft Association (HAA) is pleased to confirm that the 2014 Symposium will be held at the RAF Museum, Hendon. The line-up of top speakers is already taking shape, and further details will be released later in the year when the programme is confirmed. Keep checking the HAA website for further details and how to book. Last year's event was a sell-out, so early booking will be recommended for both HAA members and non members. website

09 Remembrance Sunday at Seething, Seething Airfield. A short service of remembrance held at the old control tower of this former WWII Airfield followed by light refreshments in the control tower tea room. Visitors are welcome by road or air. Times will be published on the airfield’s web site at www.seething-airfield.com. Seething Tower Museum is a living memorial to members of 448th Bomb Group of the United States Air Force who started flying from the newly constructed RAF Seething in 1943. The building now houses an impressive collection of artefacts and photographs of Seething Airfield and those based there between 1943 and 1945. It is open on the first Sunday of the month between May and October. website
